Centenary Match versus Manchester G.C.

We have been  invited to celebrate the centenary of the Manchester Golf Club moving to their present site at  Hopwood, by playing a match with hickories against the club on Sunday 15th  April. Mid-morning tee time, followed by a late lunch and examination of and  discussion about collectors items.

This invitation came too late for inclusion in the December edition of Through The Green and consequently we may be short of players.  Any member wishing to take part please  contact Richard Atherton  -

The British Golf Collectors Society wishes its Members and all Golfers who by happenstance come upon our web site

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.

May 2012 be good to you all!

BGCS 25th Anniversary Meeting at St Andrews

Supplementary Programme

Whilst the St Andrews event is not the only major addition to our usual programme, it has proved to be very popular and seriously oversubscribed.

We have been unable to obtain additional places at certain venues, but are planning a supplementary programme in order provide those members unsuccessful in the ballot, together with any further applicants, the certain opportunity to be in St Andrews concurrently with the original event.

This programme will include joint participation in the Literati meeting, the Museum reception, and the tour of the R & A clubhouse. The package will include round of golf on the Eden course on Thursday afternoon and dinner at a local hotel on the Wednesday and at the Swilken Restaurant on  the Thursday. Members will be at liberty to make their own arrangements to join the competitions on Kingarrock, and the Himalayas.

It is anticipated that the cost (excluding Kingarrock and the Himalayas but including Eden green fee, meals and drinks) will be approximately £140.

Non golfers will also be welcome at an approximate cost of £80.

If you are interested in this programme, please advise BGCS Hon Secretary, Bob Fletcher,  by January 8th 2012 by e-mail at secretary@golfcollectors.co.uk .

When we have a clear picture of the probable numbers in January, we will confirm to you the programme and ask for firm bookings together with a deposit.

We are privileged to be able to make special arrangements with The R&A, the British Golf Museum and the St Andrews Links Trust to hold a celebration meeting at the The Home of Golf. The meeting will take place on 27th and 28th June 2012 and because places are limited early booking is strongly recommended.
